ZAKSA against the wall in the game to save the season. 5000 Legend Points!

PSG Stal Nysa defeated GKS Katowice 3-1 in one Monday PlusLiga match. The highlight was when Jakub Jarosz crossed the 5,000-point mark.

The favorites of the match in Nysa were the PSG Stal volleyball players. Coach Daniel Pliński’s team is fighting to guarantee a place in the play-off phase. On the other side of the net, there was a team that was more interested in staying in the PlusLiga.

Jakub Jarosz with an amazing record in PlusLiga

However, the first set of the match showed that the guests in Nysa did not intend to give up on the favorites, even for a moment. The opening game lasted as long as 40 minutes and ended with a crazy 33:31 advantage in favor of PSG Stal. What’s more, after several dozen minutes the score was 1:1 in sets, because GKS won the next set 25:19.

However, as it turned out, the Katowice team did not win any more games in Nysa. The guests, however, had the opportunity to have a special celebration. Jakub Jarosz, a man-legend of volleyball courts in Poland, exceeded the cosmic barrier of 5,000 points in PlusLiga. “Jarski” achieved this as the third player in the history of the competition.

Previously, Mariusz Wlazły and Dawid Konarski performed this feat. “Szampon” finished his career, “Konar” is still collecting points in the league. However, Jarosz, being 37 years old, showed that he is still in great shape, experiencing his… another sporting youth.

Let’s add, among others: European champion from 2009 in the colors of the Polish national team, scored 18 points on Monday evening. However, this was not enough for GKS to gain at least one point. PSG Stal won 3-1, and Zouheir El Graoui was the MVP of the match. However, there were at least a few heroes on the winning side. It is worth appreciating, for example, the effective triple change after the opening set. Then the following appeared on the pitch: Patryk Szczurek in playmaking, Maciej Muzaj in attack and Wojciech Włodarczyk in reception.

Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle is fighting for the play-offs

Three points for PSG Stal is certainly not good news for the Polish runner-up volleyball players. Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle is fighting to save the season, after failures in the Tauron Polish Cup (no place in the final tournament) and the Champions League (elimination in the play-offs for the quarter-finals).

ZAKSA has played one match less than PSG Stal, taking tenth place. Coach Pliński’s team has three points more than the national runners-up (32 to 29). PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów has the same number of points as PSG Stal, and is in last place, guaranteeing play-offs. However, the Bełchatów team has an advantage over two teams from the Opole Voivodeship, having won two more matches, which in the final settlement – apart from the accumulated points – will be very important.
