Hubert Hurkacz behaved exemplarily in this situation. The secret has come to light
The best Polish tennis player is not only classy on the court, but also off it. Hubert Hurkacz impressed with his form during the ATP 1000 tournament won by the Wrocław player in Shanghai. It turned out that “Hubi” deserved the award not only for his sports results.
Let us recall that in Sunday’s final of the Chinese tournament, Hurkacz defeated Andrei Rublev in three sets 6:3, 3:6, 7:6(8). The Wrocław resident won the tournament, which was won by, among others, Andy Murray or Roger Federer. The Swiss was in the stands during Sunday’s final, following Hurkacz’s actions. It is no secret that Federer is an idol for Hurkacz. The Wrocław native beat the Swiss in his last official singles match, during Wimbledon in 2021.
“Hubi” with a special gesture towards another tennis player
Interesting information about Hurkacz’s performance in Shanghai was provided by the “From the court – tennis information” profile on the X portal. The Wrocław resident made a special gesture towards one of the doubles players.
“It is worth emphasizing one more thing, maybe even more important. I’m talking about Hubert Hurkacz’s beautiful attitude of fair play. The Pole lent the string to Rohan Bopanna, who would not have enough to finish the game in Shanghai. The 43-year-old from India reached the final of the event together with Matthew Ebden. Bopanna announced this fact during the doubles awards ceremony – it turned out after the tournament success.
Ultimately, Bopanna failed to achieve success in Shanghai, losing to the duo of Marcel Granollers (Spain) and Horacio Zeballos (Argentina). Thanks to the Pole, the fifth in the world ranking could dream of playing for high stakes in China. Hurkacz made a small but extremely noble gesture. Which certainly shows even more what a good person the Wrocław player is also off the court.
Hubert Hurkacz again at the top of the ATP ranking?
After his success at the ATP 1000 tournament in Shanghai, the Wroclaw native returned to being among the top ten tennis players in the world. The ranking shows that “Hubi” can once again dream of climbing to the position for which he certainly has tennis potential.
Looking at Monday’s ranking, the Pole jumped to eleventh place. This is definitely the biggest promotion among players in the top twenty. Hurkacz was among others ahead of the Americans, behind “Hubi” were Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe. For winning in Shanghai, the Pole gained as many as 910 points in the ranking. Hurkacz has the tenth Taylor Fritz (USA) ahead of him. Serbian Novak Djokovic remains the leader of the world lists. Behind him is Carlos Alcaraz, the Spaniard who beat the Serbian champion during this year’s Wimbledon final.
