In March, the government will decide on freezing energy prices until the end of the year, Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment Miłosz Motyka announced on Monday. The extension is not obvious at all.
On Radio Zet, Miłosz Motyka said that maintaining the price freeze depends on several factors. – It may also be that there will be no such need – added the deputy minister.
What about frozen energy prices?
– We are analyzing the budget situation. I am convinced that we will adopt a solution that will not hurt the poorest people, said Motyka.
The Act amending acts to support consumers of electricity, gas fuels and heat and certain other acts provides for the extension of the maximum electricity prices for households at PLN 412 per MWh net until mid-2024 to the current consumption limit, reduced by 50%. ., because the regulations are to be valid for half a year. Above the limit, the rate of PLN 693 per MWh is to be maintained – as the maximum price.
The maximum price is to be paid by local governments and public utility entities. This solution covered municipal companies operating sports facilities, such as sports halls or swimming pools. The Sejm also adopted an amendment extending the maximum rate for small and medium-sized enterprises and farmers.
Hennig-Kloska on energy poverty
Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment, was asked about the government’s plans regarding energy prices for the second half of this year on Polsat News.
– We are currently preparing a proposal for regulations for the second half of the year. This will be the quiet half of the year, because let me remind you that after June, for example, thermal energy is less painful and less used by citizens. Within two or three weeks, regulations will be created in our ministry regarding these prices for the second half of the year, we want to focus primarily on helping people suffering from energy poverty and with a worse financial status – the head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment announced several days ago in the “Graffiti” program, emphasizing that there will be an income criterion.
