“Desert” under the CPK. The company explains why demolitions are still ongoing. “They were absolutely necessary”
Residents of the areas where the CPK is to be built (or was to be built) are warning that despite ongoing audits, demolitions are still ongoing. – They are making a desert for us – Tadeusz Szymańczak is outraged. The company explains that decisions were made by the previous management, but in some cases demolitions are “necessary”.
When in October 2023, after the parliamentary elections, we were in the area where the Central Communication Port is to be built, the demolitions were ongoing. Heavy equipment destroyed houses that owners sold under the Voluntary Acquisition Program.
Earlier, in mid-September, the company boasted that the area of purchased properties exceeded one thousand hectares, and over 1,300 owners with approximately 3,600 hectares of land signed up for the program. However, protesting residents warned that the buyout had little to do with voluntariness.
Despite the change of government, despite ongoing audits, demolitions are still ongoing.
– The land lies fallow, new buildings are being demolished, trees are being cut down. I can not look at this. They are making a desert for us here. There are no changes – says Tadeusz Szymańczak, a farmer from Skrzewo.
In response to our questions, the company assures that the acquisitions planned by the previous management were suspended, but after the dismissal of Mikołaj Wild from the position of president, demolition works continued on 23 properties.
“In addition, another 22 properties were handed over for demolition,” adds CPK, explaining the decision with the “poor or unsatisfactory technical condition” of the buildings, where demolition works are “necessary” for the “concern for the safety of people and the environment.”
