Polish jumpers will soon take part in the national championships and then the Four Hills Tournament. Until recently, there were voices that the most important Polish representatives would not take part in the second of the mentioned events. Former coach Kazimierz Długopolski said directly what he thought about it and revealed what the pilots should follow.
The competition in Engelberg was the one that raised hopes for improving the results of Polish jumpers in the current World Cup. Unfortunately, in the first of them only Kamil Stoch and Piotr Żyła scored points, and in the second, Dawid Kubacki joined the former. One of the most prestigious events in the ski jumping season, the Four Hills Tournament, will begin soon. No wonder there are concerns.
Polish jumpers should not do this
Immediately after the end of the Swiss competition, Thomas Thurnbichler said that he had noticed progress in the Poles’ jumping, based on the results of Piotr Żyła and Dawid Kubacki. Kazimierz Długopolski has a different opinion. The famous trainer stated that he had not noticed any improvement in the style and flying technique of the Polish representatives since the first competition in Ruka.
– I don’t see any improvement. It is clear that the jumpers are not in good shape. When you’re in it, you can jump with your eyes closed and even leaving late doesn’t bother you that much. And if he is not in good shape, he will make a good attempt from time to time, but these are only single jumps – said the trainer in an interview with the “WP Sportowe Fakty” website.
Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki and Piotr Żyła outside the Four Hills Tournament?
There were several reports in the media that Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki and Piotr Żyła would not take part in the Four Hills Tournament, which will start just after Christmas. Kazimierz Długopolski claims that this is absurd, because there is no potential replacement for them.
– This is one of the most important moments of the season. Of course they should perform. I can’t imagine it being any other way. Besides, there is no one to replace them, added the coach.
