It doesn’t matter if the driver gets behind the wheel immediately after drinking alcohol or drank too much the previous day, and a positive alcohol test is the result of the proverbial hangover. In any case, driving a car by a drunk driver is asking for a tragedy on the road.

More than half a thousand drivers were tested

During the morning activities on August 21, on expressways, national and provincial roads, inspectors of the Masovian ITD inspected 510 drivers of trucks, minibuses and buses with breathalysers. Inspectors apprehended two drunk road users.

Detained in Radom and near Siedlce

On the national “twelve” in Radom, the ITD patrol prevented an intoxicated driver of a truck – a cold store belonging to one of the local entrepreneurs. The man “blown” over 1 per mille of alcohol. On the other hand, on the national “two” near Siedlce, inspectors excluded an intoxicated lorry driver from traffic. The 35-year-old transported soybean meal from Gdynia to Siedlce. The man had 0.67 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air. Both drunk drivers were handed over to officers from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Radom and the Municipal Police Headquarters in Siedlce for further action.

State after the use of alcohol and state of intoxication

If the concentration of alcohol in the blood is between 0.2 and 0.5 per mille (or from 0.1 to 0.25 mg in 1 dm3 of exhaled air), this is the state after alcohol consumption. The state of intoxication within the meaning of the penal code occurs when the blood alcohol content exceeds 0.5 per mille or leads to a concentration exceeding this value, or the alcohol content in 1 dm3 of exhaled air exceeds 0.25 mg or leads to a concentration exceeding this value.

Anyone who drives a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol commits an offense punishable by arrest, a fine of up to PLN 5,000 and temporary suspension of the driving license. The court orders a driving ban for months or years, for a period from 6 months to 3 years.

For driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, the court may impose a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to 2 years. In addition, the court obligatorily orders a ban on driving motor vehicles or motor vehicles of a certain type for a period of 1 to 10 years. intoxication, the perpetrator caused an accident in which they are killed or injured, the court may order a lifetime driving ban.
