A well-known chain withdraws a dangerous product from sale. You can get your money back

A well-known chain of stores is withdrawing gel mouse pads manufactured in China from sale. These products contained increased amounts of chemicals that are harmful to health.

The TEDi chain of stores announced the withdrawal of gel mouse pads manufactured in China because they contain dangerous chemicals – polyaromatic hydrocarbons, which may be harmful to health.

“The product has been withdrawn from sale. Due to the health risk, further use of the product is not recommended,” we read in the information sent to customers by the TEDi network.

Serial number of the defective TEDi pad

The defective pads were available for sale from July 8, 2023 to May 27, 2024. Consumers are encouraged to return or exchange these products directly at TEDi stores. The chain ensures that every customer who returns the gel pad will receive a full refund (PLN 35) or the option of exchanging it for another product. The product has the following serial number: 53224003981000000800.

Polyaromatic hydrocarbons are a group of chemical compounds produced during the combustion of organic materials. Some of them are known to be carcinogenic and can cause other serious health problems. Therefore, it is important to avoid products that may contain these substances.

The Chinese washer is another recent example of consumers being asked to regularly check for recall notices and be aware of the potential health risks associated with using items containing harmful substances.

Up to 100 thousand PLN fine

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection warns that information about potentially dangerous products should be made available immediately to protect public health. Entrepreneurs must immediately inform the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection about such threats, otherwise they may face a financial penalty of up to PLN 100,000.
