Local elections 2024. Marcin Bzyk-Bąk from Wu-Hae wants to become the president of Krakow
Bzyk-Bąk emphasized that he is aware of his low chances, but he hopes that he will be able to spark a discussion on issues important to the city. One of the most famous rock musicians in Krakow also criticized the d’Hondt system.
The vocalist of the band Wu-Hae decided to run in the local elections at the end of November 2023. “After deep consideration and in response to numerous questions that have reached me, I am announcing my candidacy for the position of mayor of Krakow. I would like to verify whether a person without strong support, without a significant campaign budget and not affiliated with a large political party can successfully assume this position. It’s time for a president from Nowa Huta,” he wrote on Facebook.
Jacek Majchrowski will not run for re-election. Łukasz Gibała has the best chance of replacing him
After more than 20 years, long-time mayor Jacek Majchrowski will not run for the position of president of Krakow. He appointed the vice-president of the capital of Małopolska, Andrzej Kulig, as his successor. However, the independent politician Łukasz Gibała has the best chance of replacing Majchrowski. In the second round, he could fight Małgorzata Wassermann, but it is not known whether PiS will decide to bet on her at all. Ireneusz Raś from PSL would also like to become the president of Krakow.
