How to make a sauerkraut cocktail? A simple recipe

Do you associate a cocktail made with sauerkraut with something downright terrible in taste? I thought so myself until I tried this drink. It turns out that nothing could be further from the truth. All you need to do is combine the sauerkraut juice with the appropriate ingredients – mainly apples, which will give the whole thing a wonderful sweetness. Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups of sauerkraut juice
  • 5 apples
  • salt
  • sugar

A method of preparing

  1. Juicing applesFirst, wash and peel the apples, and then squeeze the juice from them in a juicer.
  2. Adding sauerkraut juiceAdd homemade sauerkraut juice to the squeezed apple juice. If you don't have such juice, squeeze the cabbage juice using a juicer.
  3. Season the drinkMix both juices together and then season with salt and sugar.

A cocktail made of sauerkraut will help you lose weight

Eating sauerkraut (in various forms) can help you lose weight for several reasons. Firstly, it is low-calorie (100 g is only 16 kcal), which means that you can eat a larger amount without a large increase in calories. Additionally, sauerkraut is rich in dietary fiber, which affects our feeling of satiety – it makes us feel full for longer, so we can easily put away high-calorie and unhealthy snacks (we guarantee that you won't want to eat them again). Such sauerkraut also supports the health of the intestinal flora, which contributes to better digestion and absorption of nutrients. Remember, however, that sauerkraut itself is not a miracle weight loss agent and should be part of a balanced diet combined with regular physical activity.

What other beneficial properties does sauerkraut have?

Sauerkraut is called a “superfood” – it is rich in vitamins and minerals. In addition to improving intestinal function, it also slows down the aging process and has anti-inflammatory properties. Its consumption also has a positive effect on our lipid profile and glucose levels, and supports the functioning of the immune system.

But that's not all – sauerkraut may have a preventive effect on cancer. It contains natural antioxidants such as vitamins C, A and E, as well as polyphenols and carotenoids, which reduces the risk of gastrointestinal cancer and hormone-dependent cancers (breast, cervical, ovarian and prostate cancer). These compounds belong to the group of antioxidants, thanks to which they eliminate the effects of free radicals (the excess of which is harmful to our health). Antioxidants play the greatest role in preventing cancer. This wealth of valuable ingredients gives sauerkraut its anti-cancer properties. For the prevention of cancer, it is recommended to eat at least 5 portions (400-600 g) of low-starch vegetables and fruits, including sauerkraut.
