The Polish national team will face the powerhouses at Euro. This is what group D looks like

The poor results of the Polish national team in 2023 meant that we had to worry about qualifying for Euro 2023 until the end. The team led first by Fernando Santos, and later by Michał Probierz, did not directly advance to this event. The Polish national team finished the qualifying round in third place, behind Albania and the Czech Republic, and ahead of Moldova and the Faroe Islands.

Poland's group for Euro 2024

The Polish national team was saved from complete disappointment by the Nations League, thanks to which we could fight for Euro 2024 in the play-offs. In the end, Michał Probierz's team managed to qualify after a convincing 5-1 victory over Estonia and a thriller against Wales that ended in penalties. Wojciech Szczęsny saved the decisive eleven.

At the beginning of December, the group draw for Euro 2024 took place in Hamburg. Poland, as the winner of the “A” play-offs, finally entered group D, where it will face the Netherlands, Austria and France. Without a doubt, this is one of the most interesting groups during Euro 2024. We played with each of these teams not so long ago.

We played against the French, runners-up in the world, in Qatar in the 1/8 finals of the World Cup. We lost 1:3 (0:1). Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe scored twice. In turn, Robert Lewandowski scored an honorary goal for the white and red team. The Dutch were our rivals in the 2022 Nations League. In the first match, we drew 2:2 away, and lost 0:2 at PGE Narodowy. In turn, we faced the Austrians in el. to Euro 2020 during the term of office of Jerzy Brzęczek. The two-legged match ended with our victory 1-0 away and a draw 0-0 in Warsaw.

Euro 2024: When will the Poles' matches be played?

The 2024 European Championships will start on June 14, 2024 and will last exactly one month. The Polish national team will start its competition two days later. Our rivals at the stadium in Hamburg will be the Dutch (June 16, 3:00 p.m.). Then we will try our hand at Austria in Berlin (June 21, 6 p.m.). At the end of the group phase, we will face France in Dortmund (June 25, 6:00 p.m.).

The two best teams from each group and the four third-placed teams will advance to the 1/8 finals. The condition for qualification is having the best balance sheet.
