The largest hotel in Poland – Hotel Gołębiewski – is being built in Pobierowo. The investment area was sold for PLN 50 million to a private investor by the then mayor of the Rewal commune.
The largest hotel in Poland is being built just 150 meters from the beach in Pobierowo. According to TVP Info, the investment area – nearly 30 ha – is a former military unit managed by the commune. In 2017, the plot was sold to Tadeusz Gołębiewski for PLN 50.5 million. According to information from the prosecutor’s office, the then mayor, Robert S., was accused of failing to fulfill his duties and exceeding his powers when concluding an agreement with parabanks, as a result of which the commune lost PLN 21 million. According to the prosecutor’s office, the accused mayor allegedly misappropriated PLN 17,000. PLN with the help of two of his colleagues. According to information from “Gazeta Wyborcza”, Robert S. is currently the director of the Gołębiewski Hotel in Pobierowo. – We were missing a client from a different, higher level in the commune. We missed a five-star hotel. This hotel will complement the commune’s offer, he explained to journalists.
1,100 rooms for almost 3,000 tourists
The investment in Pobierowo will be the largest hotel in Poland. The investor plans that it will have 11 floors and will have as many as 1,100 rooms for almost 3,000 tourists, and each of them will have an area of 60 to 80 square meters. Guests will be able to use attractions such as a swimming pool with six slides, two cinema and theater halls and a year-round ice rink. In total, the hotel will be able to accommodate approximately 3,000 tourists.
Construction of the hotel began in February 2018. According to information from “Gazeta Wyborcza”, the work is already very advanced. The first part of the hotel is scheduled to be put into operation in 2020. The investment is planned to be commissioned in 2021. However, the construction of the facility is controversial. According to “Gazeta Wyborcza”, the investor had to cut down over 1,500 trees to start construction. It is possible that it will be necessary to cut down even more fragments of the forest.
