The European Union is looking for money for ecology. Poland will lose the most
In the new financial perspective of the European Union, ecology is to play a much greater role. According to “Rzeczpospolita”, Poland will suffer the most from this.
“Poland may lose up to EUR 13 billion in the new multi-annual budget of the European Union compared to the European Commission’s project from over a year ago” – “Rzeczpospolita” found out.
During unofficial talks with diplomats in Brussels, the daily learned that Poland’s situation may be much worse than expected. Finland, which currently holds the presidency, has forced work to be accelerated and the program on investments in ecology to be expanded.
A new commission chaired by Ursula von der Leyen is to start work on November 1, whose priority will be the so-called green deal. Its creation requires the allocation of a specific budget. According to diplomats quoted by Rz, Poland will suffer the most from this.
Yesterday, Minister of Investment and Development Jerzy Kwieciński informed about the lower funds that will be allocated for investments on the Vistula River. During the opening of three new stations of the second line of the Warsaw metro, the head of the ministry informed that the current perspective may be the last one that will be so beneficial for Poland.
More cuts
However, this is not the end of the bad news. The additional amounts by which investment program budgets may be reduced are expected to result from proposals for an overall reduction in the overall EU budget. In the current proposal, it amounts to EUR 1 trillion 279 billion. Some countries, including Germany, propose that it be reduced to 1%. Gross National Income, i.e. over EUR 127 billion. If this happens, it will mean another dozen or so billion euros less for Poland.
