The Egyptian pyramid will undergo a metamorphosis. It is expected to be ready in three years

The Ministry of Tourism confirmed the implementation of the new project. It is intended to make one of the pyramids look exactly as it did in the times of Ancient Egypt.

Egypt, which has already announced a revolution related to the relocation of its capital, will surprise tourists again. This time it is about rebuilding one of the country’s greatest attractions. Tourists who will go to see the Giza pyramids in three years may be in for a real surprise. One of them is to be renovated and look like it did in the times of Ancient Egypt.

Menkaure’s pyramid will undergo a metamorphosis

The Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three largest pyramids in Giza – it is 65 meters high and was built from the largest stone blocks in Giza. It is about to undergo a major metamorphosis in the coming years. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced the planned renovation of the ancient structure. “We want contemporaries to see the pyramid of King Menkaure with its external covering as it was built by the ancient Egyptians. To put it simply, we want to re-cover it with granite. This is the project of the century,” says Mustafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, quoted by the Polish portal hurghada24.pl.

New granite blocks will be placed on the pyramid

The aim of the renovation is to place completely new granite blocks on the pyramid. This will not be an easy task – it will require engineers and builders to work in several stages and carefully, including documentation, photogrammetry (reproducing shapes based on photos) and laser scanning. The last step is to install heavy granite blocks. “What will be implemented is like putting together a puzzle, because each new block of granite will have to be matched to each stone of the pyramid, making this project the largest puzzle game in the history of the world,” says historian and university lecturer Dr. Bassam Al-Shamaa. The effects of the work Tourists will be able to admire it only in three years.
