Starbucks is suspending the option of bringing your own cup. Customers' health is more important than ecology

One of the most famous coffee chains has just announced that it is temporarily suspending the possibility of pouring coffee into reusable cups brought by customers. The reason is the coronavirus epidemic.

Fearing the spreading coronavirus epidemic and out of concern for the health of customers and staff, Starbucks decided to temporarily suspend its pro-ecological campaign. It’s about the possibility of coming for coffee with your own cups, a trend that has recently become more and more popular. Unfortunately, this will be impossible in Starbucks stores in the coming days.

The discount remains

However, the chain announced that it still appreciates the fact that some customers care about the environment, therefore it will temporarily suspend the possibility of pouring coffee into reusable cups and maintain the related promotion. Customers with reusable cups will get their coffee in a paper cup, but will pay 10 cents less for it. “We are optimistic and think this is a temporary solution.” – wrote Rossann Williams from the Starbucks chain in an official statement.

The popular campaign was introduced in 2010. Its goal is to reduce the amount of waste produced, such as paper cups and plastic lids. The company claims that thanks to it it has already managed to reduce the amount of used packaging by several million tons.
