In Verkhoyansk, a city in Yakutia, Russia, a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius was recorded, which is the highest ever recorded beyond the Arctic Circle. This is the place where the most extreme temperature range occurs – the lowest recorded is -68 degrees Celsius.

Verkhoyansk is located above the Arctic Circle in Yakutia, approximately 4,660 km northeast of Moscow.
