PZU has a new president.  Now the consent of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority is needed

The PZU supervisory board entrusted Artur Olech with the function of president, subject to the consent of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. The Supervisory Board also decided to appoint three additional members of the company's management board.

PZU announced in a stock exchange announcement that the company's supervisory board appointed Artur Olech to the management board, entrusting him with the function of the company's president, subject to the consent of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. Until consent is granted, Olech will be the acting president of the company.

Moreover, the supervisory board decided to appoint three members to the management board: Bartosz Grześkowiak, Elżbieta Häuser-Schöneich and Jan Zimowicz.

Until February 23, Beata Kozłowska-Chyła was the president of PZU. After her dismissal, her duties were taken over by Anita Elżanowska.

Who is Artur Olech?

In the announcement, PZU introduced Artur Olech as a manager with 30 years of experience. “Co-creator of Fintech. Expert in the field of business process management. Long-time president of the management board of financial institutions. Currently, since May 2020, he is the co-founder and CEO of Trasti – an insurtech and digital insurer created in a JV with Triglav DD and Swiss Re. Related to the insurance market, among others. both in the private and public domain,” we read.

He first encountered the insurance market in 1995 while studying at Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien. “The program included internships and meetings in the branches of the largest European companies operating in Vienna. He has been associated with the Generali Group for many years, passing through all career levels and various areas of responsibility, starting from the position of manager, through department director, member of the management board, vice-president, until he was offered the position of President of the Group in Poland in 2010.

In 2020, Olech founded the so-called “digital insurer” – HPI GMA sp. z o. o. Operating under the Trasti brand, it started selling motor insurance, mainly through digital channels.

Artur Olech sits on several supervisory boards in Polish financial institutions and pension funds, serving as an independent member in public sector and listed companies. In March 2023, he was invited to the Program Council of EKF Ubezpieczenia, a conference organized as part of the prestigious European Financial Congress. He serves as a member of the chapter of the Leaders of the World of Banking and Insurance, which awards annual awards to the best banks and insurance companies.
