Leszek Miller attacks the Left MP. “It's not nice to lie on the threshold of a campaign”

Miller has a "general remark" towards those in power. He warned Tusk

Former Prime Minister Leszek Miller accused Left MP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus of lying. These are the words that were spoken during Saturday's convention, during which Scheuring-Wielgus was presented as the “number one” of the Left in the elections to the European Parliament in Greater Poland.

On Saturday, the Left presented its “firsts” in the elections to the European Parliament. During the Warsaw convention, the anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union was repeatedly referred to and the participation of Left politicians in this process was emphasized.

Scheuring-Wielgus: The key vote for the Left, which brought Poland into the EU

One of the people who spoke during Saturday's convention was MP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus, the Left's candidate in the European elections from the Greater Poland Voivodeship.

– When I think about Europe, I remember the mid-1990s. At that time I was a student going to London. For work. Of course in black. (…) I walked around this beautiful, dignified and European London and wondered whether Warsaw would one day also be the capital of an EU country. Will they want us to join the EU or will everyone agree to it? I dreamed of being fully European. And not just geographically. And it happened. In 2004. We entered Europe with full rights. For the place that we deserved, said the MP during the convention.

She then cited data on support for the EU among Poles. – Today, 82% of us believe that Poland benefits from membership in the European Union. 75% of us perceive Poland's membership in the EU as important. The European Union is Poland, and Poland is the European Union, the MP emphasized. – A strong, united union is a good scenario for us. If we are in this family, we do not have to fear for the lives of our loved ones. That is why it is crucial to vote for the Left on June 9, which brought Poland into the EU and stands for the weaker. Democracy, freedom and our presence in the European Union are not given once and for all, she said.

Miller assesses Scheuring-Wielgus's words: It's not true

On Sunday, former Prime Minister Leszek Miller, who was head of government when Poland joined the European Union, commented on the words of MP Scheuring-Wielgus. Miller is currently an MEP elected from the lists of the European Coalition, but he is not running for another term.

“Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus calls on people to vote for the Left on June 9, because 'the Left brought Poland into the EU.' It's not true. Poland was brought into the European Union by the coalition of the SLD, UP, PSL or, if you prefer, the government of Leszek Miller,” wrote the former prime minister on the X website. “It is not nice to lie, even on the threshold of an election campaign,” he added.
