Iga Świątek didn't give her American friend a chance. Quick win at Indian Wells
Iga Świątek quickly secured promotion to the next round of the tournament in Indian Wells. The Pole gave Danielle Collins no chance, winning the second set to zero.
Iga Świątek was just starting in the tournament in Indian Wells, because as a high-seeded player, she was guaranteed a free place in the first round. In the second one, she met an “old friend”. She had problems with Danielle Collins during the Australian Open, but in Indian Wells everything went as she planned. She won 6:3, 6:0 and can now think about a clash with her conqueror from Melbourne.
Iga Świątek dominated a familiar rival
The beginning of the match gave a signal that Collins did not intend to make it easier for the Pole to win. For the first few games, it was a blow-for-blow fight. Neither player could break the other. In the seventh game, Collins was close to this feat, but Świątek managed to get out of trouble. Over time, she won the game on her opponent's pass. Later, with additional confidence, she achieved her goal, winning the next games and winning the set 6:3.
In the second set, Świątek's advantage was unquestionable. The game was a show of strength from the Polish woman, who ruled the court from the first to the last game. The American was becoming more and more nervous, which was to her detriment. Instead of making up for losses, she gave her opponent a chance to increase her advantage. As the set progressed, you could see the resignation on her face. The WTA ranking leader only had to complete the formalities. She won 6-0 and advanced to the third round of the tournament with a certain victory.
Linda Noskova is Świątek's next opponent in Indian Wells
In the next phase of the competition in Indian Wells, Iga Świątek will face Linda Noskova. The Pole will have the opportunity to take revenge on the Czech for her defeat in the Australian Open in January. The young rival surprised the entire sports world by winning against the favored Pole. The match is tentatively scheduled for Sunday evening, Polish time.
