Hot construction sites. Last months to use EU money
Construction and assembly production increased by 3.5% in August. year to year, most since February. The increased pace of work may be related to the fact that in a few months the time will expire to use EU funds from the 2014-2020 budget.
Construction and assembly production in August increased in real terms (i.e. at constant prices) by 3.5%. year to year after an increase of 1.1%. in July and 1.5 percent in June. “Thursday’s data confirms that infrastructure investments are currently the driving force of construction. Production in the “construction of civil engineering facilities” category increased by 11.8% in August. year to year, the same as in July. Economists interviewed by the newspaper believe that the rush to implement investment projects is due to the fact that this is the last year to use funds from the 2014-2020 budget.

Improvement is also visible in housing construction. The sold production of buildings decreased by 5% in August. year on year, the lowest since February, after a 7.8% discount. in July.
In the first four months of 2023, the number of apartments put into use increased by 3.1%. higher than last year. In the same period, construction starts increased by 27.7%. fewer apartments. In turn, the number of building permits or applications increased by 32%. less.
Construction in the first months of 2023
In the period January–April 2023, 75.6 thousand were put into operation. apartments, i.e. 3.1%. more than in the same period of 2022. Of this number:

developers put 40.7 thousand square meters into operation. apartments – by 0.5 percent more than a year ago,

individual investors – 33.7 thousand apartments, i.e. by 6.6 percent more.
In the period January–April 2023, permits were issued or construction notifications were submitted for 72.1 thousand. apartments, i.e. by 32.0 percent less than in the same period of 2022.
In the first four months of 2023, construction of 53.1 thousand was started. apartments, i.e. by 27.7 percent less than a year ago. Developers have started construction of 30.4 thousand m2. apartments (as much as 28.9 percent less), and individual investors 21.4 thousand (27.8% less).
