Fans are complaining about the Witcher 3 update. They point to a serious problem
Today, the next-generation update for The Witcher 3 debuted. The highly anticipated free patch introduces many new features to the already old game, but not everyone is happy. Many players complain about technical problems.
On Wednesday, December 14, at exactly 1:00 a.m., CD Projekt Red released the update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was expected by players. The patch improving graphics and more has been released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
As it turns out, some players have problems returning to the story of Geralt of Rivia. One of the big problems is non-working saves, because the problem is downloading key files. There are also difficulties with installing the next-gen update itself.
Next-gen update for The Witcher 3 – players about lack of saves and problems on PS5
Players have a problem, among others: with installing the game and the latest update on PlayStation 5. The solution here is quite simple, because you need to download the game again by manually searching for the title in PlayStation Store. More specifically, we need to enter: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition. The game should be available for zero PLN and can be linked to a PS account.
Transferring our saves to The Witcher 3 next-gen is a more difficult matter. Here we need to install The Witcher 3 on PS4 on our console and update the game to version 4.0, log in to the GOG.com account (in the “My rewards” tab). Then we have to manually access each save file that we want to transfer to the cloud and save the game again from there. Only this will signal the device to transfer the save.
Then we have to install The Witcher 3 on PS5, log in to GOG.com again and… play through the game until we can save the game for the first time. Only then will the “load game” option appear in the main menu.
Marcin Rączka described the situation in a slightly mocking way on Twitter. His instructions contain as many as 12 consecutive steps and even then they do not end with complete success.
The Wprost.pl editorial team itself encountered the problems presented in Internet users’ entries. First of all, despite manually downloading the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine add-ons from the PS Store and installing them on the console, the game theoretically sees them (for example, the background in the main menu changes), but they cannot be launched.
There is also a problem with importing old saves to the new version. After downloading the latest update to the PlayStation 4 version (launched on PlayStation 5), our editorial colleague had a problem with loading old saves and was therefore unable to initiate the process of exporting them to the cloud.
Each time he encountered an error notifying about missing add-ons, even though in the case of the PlayStation 4 version they were all installed.
