Why is it dangerous to eat contaminated meat?
Consumption of contaminated meat products may lead to development listeriosis. Illness can give flu-like symptoms. Fever often occurs, accompanied by chills and muscle pain, as well as digestive system problems (diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, etc.). In some cases, the bacteria can also attack the nervous system and lead to meningitis, encephalitis, and even sepsis, also known as sepsis.
Listeriosis threatens primarily small children, seniors, patients with immunodeficiencies and chronic diseases. It is also very dangerous for pregnant women. It may lead to miscarriage, premature birth, fetal death or the development of congenital listeriosis in the newborn. Healthy adults who do not suffer from any chronic diseases and have no health problems usually undergo the infection asymptomatically.
