Budget status after two months of 2024. The Ministry provided data

The Ministry of Finance informed that the estimated implementation of the state budget in the period January – February this year. in relation to the Budget Act for 2024 amounted to:

• revenue PLN 104.03 billion, i.e. 15.2 percent

• expenses PLN 111.87 billion, i.e. 12.9 percent

• deficit PLN 7.84 billion, i.e. 4.3 percent

Budget status. Income in January-February

State budget revenues in the period January-February this year. were higher by approximately PLN 10.9 billion (11.7%) compared to the same period of 2023 (PLN 93.1 billion, i.e. 15.5% of the plan).

The Ministry of Finance also announced that the tax revenues of the state budget amounted to PLN 93.5 billion and were higher than in the period January – February last year by approximately PLN 9.8 billion (11.7%), including:

• VAT revenues amounted to PLN 54.3 billion and were higher by approximately PLN 10.7 billion (24.7%) compared to the performance in the period January – February 2023,

• revenues from excise tax amounted to PLN 13.2 billion and were higher by approximately PLN 0.5 billion (i.e. 4.1%) compared to the performance in the period January – February 2023,

• PIT revenues amounted to PLN 14.2 billion and were lower by approximately PLN 0.1 billion (i.e. 0.8%) compared to the performance in the period January – February 2023,

• CIT revenues amounted to PLN 8.8 billion and were lower by approximately PLN 1.3 billion (i.e. 12.8%) compared to the performance in the period January – February 2023.

In the period January – February this year. the realization of non-tax revenues amounted to PLN 10.5 billion and was higher by approximately PLN 1.1 billion (12.2%) compared to the realization in the period January – February last year.

The Ministry explains that the lower amount of state budget revenues from PIT in the period January-February is mainly due to faster than last year refunds of overpaid tax as a result of the annual settlement and to higher shares in PIT than last year, which go to local governments this year.

Budget expenditure at the beginning of 2024

Execution of state budget expenditure in the period January – February this year. amounted to approximately PLN 111.9 billion, or 12.9%. plan, at the same time it was higher by approximately PLN 18.7 billion (20%) compared to the same period in 2023 (PLN 93.2 billion, i.e. 13.4% of the plan).

In the period January – February 2024, the highest expenses were recorded in the following parts of the state budget:

• General subsidies for local government units – in the amount of PLN 31.7 billion, i.e. 26.9%. plan,

• Social Insurance Institution – in the amount of PLN 20.4 billion, i.e. 11.3%. plan,

• National Defense – in the amount of PLN 11.9 billion, i.e. 10.1%. plan,

• Voivodes' budgets – in the amount of PLN 7.3 billion, i.e. 18.3%. plan,

• Internal affairs – in the amount of PLN 6.4 billion, i.e. 14.9%. plan,

• Service of the State Treasury debt – in the amount of PLN 5.6 billion, i.e. 8.5%. plan,

• EU own funds – in the amount of PLN 4.4 billion, i.e. 12.8%. plan.
