Andrzej Duda deprived the famous activist of his orders. The resolution has been published

Andrzej Duda deprived Andrzej Malinowski of two significant orders. The activist was previously convicted of giving false testimony. The president's decision was published in Monitor Polski.

Andrzej Malinowski was deprived of the Commander's Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. The decision to strip the activist of his awards was made last year, but has now been published in Monitor Polski.

The president's decision in Monitor Polski

Andrzej Duda signed the decision on October 19, 2023, referring to Art. 36 section 1 point 2 of the Act of October 16, 1992 on orders and decorations. It stated that the president may decide to revoke distinctions in two cases, at the request of the Chapters of the Orders or after seeking their opinion.

The head of state has the right to withdraw the distinction if he considers that it was awarded as a result of fraud and in a situation in which the person who received it committed an act that made him “unworthy” of the award. Therefore, the decision does not have to apply to all orders awarded to a given person.

Andrzej Malinowski stripped of his orders

The decision did not provide information on the reason for Malinowski's deprivation of two orders, which he was awarded in 1999 by Aleksander Kwaśniewski and six years later by Bronisław Komorowski. The activist served as the president of the Employers of the Republic of Poland organization for many years, and was also a member of parliament and chairman of the Social Dialogue Council.

In 2019, “Do Rzeczy” published a text in which Piotr Woyciechowski reported that Malinowski was a secret collaborator of the Agentural Operational Intelligence in the 1980s and used the pseudonym “Roman”.

The activist denied these reports, and the prosecutor's office initiated an investigation into the possible falsification of the TW file. However, the proceedings were discontinued and Malinowski was fined for submitting false testimony and was ordered to pay court costs.
