A bear killed a tourist in a national park. The 42-year-old died on the spot
Russian tourist Yevgeny Starkov was attacked by a wild bear in the Yergaki Nature Park. The man, bitten and scratched by a large predator, died on the spot.
His traveling companion and contemporary, Anton Shelkunov, told about the terrifying death of the 42-year-old. The men, along with two other friends, were exploring the Yergaki Nature Park in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia. Just before the bear attacked, they were packing their equipment and breaking camp.
– I turned my head to the left and saw an angry bear. He attacked us, so we ran away with all our strength, the man said. Together with his friends, he managed to climb one of the nearby trees. Unfortunately, Starkov was not so lucky.
The wild animal caught the 42-year-old and started tearing his body apart. The man was severely scratched and bitten. He died on the spot, long before the called rescuers arrived. After the bear left, the remaining three Russians climbed down from the trees and fled. The park was closed to most visitors.
