14 years ago, the Americans announced their resignation from building an anti-missile shield in Poland – reminds the Prime Minister

“14 years ago, the Americans announced their abandonment of building an anti-missile shield after Donald Tusk’s diplomatic mistakes. Fortunately, today, after 8 years of PiS rule, the situation is completely different, the shields are basically ready, and Poles can feel safe,” wrote Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in a statement accompanied by a short recording.

Morawiecki described the abandonment of the construction of the anti-missile shield as a reset with Russia, “that is, Tusk’s anti-Polish policy, which exposed Poland and Poles to great danger,” he continued.

-Maybe if it weren’t for those mistakes, Russia would not have dared to launch a full-scale aggression against Ukraine – he continued.

The Prime Minister assured that thanks to the actions of his government, the shields are basically ready. “The rapid modernization of our army is admired around the world, and our relations with our main ally, the United States, are excellent,” he explained.

Anti-missile shield in Redzikowo

The anti-missile system located in Redzikowo near Słupsk is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year. Elements of the American Aegis Ashore system were located in Pomerania. The Aegis missile defense shield was originally designed as a ship-based system to track and destroy missiles. After appropriate modernization, it was also implemented for use on land as Aegis Ashore. It already operates in Deveselu, Romania.

The construction of the American base in Redzikowo is financed by the United States administration, the cost of work and equipment is almost USD 900 million.
