The United States sent an Ohio-class nuclear submarine to the Mediterranean Sea. The unit is armed with 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles. This is a clear warning to Iran and Hezbollah.

The war between Israel and the Hamas terrorists who control the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing since October 7, threatens to spread to the entire region.

To prevent this from happening, the United States sent its two aircraft carriers to the Eastern Mediterranean: USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and USS Gerald Ford.

On Sunday, November 5, the command of the American army announced the next step to counteract the escalation of the conflict. An Ohio-class nuclear submarine armed with 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles arrived in the said water area.

The American Navy has only four ships of this type. It is worth adding that one Tomahawk missile is armed with a high-explosive warhead weighing approximately one thousand pounds – i.e. approximately 450 kg – and its range is approximately 1,600 km.

Warning from the US Secretary of Defense

On the same day, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had a telephone conversation with his Israeli counterpart, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Austin stressed that his country had pledged to deter “any state or non-state actor seeking to escalate this conflict,” a clear warning to Iran and Hezbollah terrorists who control southern Lebanon.

Expert: They throw lots of punches with precision

The world public became aware of the devastating firepower of these ships in March 2011. The USS Florida ship then fired nearly 100 Tomahawks at targets located in Libya.

– One hundred and fifty-four Tomahawks deliver a lot of precise hits. No adversary of the United States can ignore the threat, said Carl Schuster, former director of operations at the Joint Intelligence Center of the US Pacific Command, in an interview with CNN.
