Road engineers boast that they have just signed a contract for the design and construction of a new section of the S74 route in the province. Świętokrzyskie. They also emphasize that this is the most expensive road investment in the region.
In the future, the S74 expressway will connect the Łódź, Świętokrzyskie and Podkarpackie voivodeships. The largest city through which this expressway will run is Kielce. The total length of the S74 route will be 206 km. Once it is completed, it will be used by both drivers traveling within the Świętokrzyskie Mountains and those who need to quickly get from Kielce to motorway junctions in Łódź or border crossings in Podkarpacie. Currently, four sections of S74 are being constructed in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, with a total length exceeding 55 km.

The contract just signed concerns the design and construction of a new section of the S74 expressway from the border of the Łódź and Świętokrzyskie voivodeships to Mniów. It will be approximately 27.5 km long and will connect to a section of the expressway currently under construction from Mniów to the Kielce Zachód junction.
A dual carriageway expressway will be built in the Konecki and Kielce poviats, partly along a new track, including: as a bypass for the town of Smyków. The investment includes the construction of three road junctions, 12 viaducts for large and medium-sized animals, an upper crossing for medium-sized animals, 6 bridges integrated with animal crossings, as well as 10 viaducts on roads (expressways and cross roads).

The contractor for the new section of S74 is Stecol Corporation, and the investment cost is approximately PLN 1 billion. 27.5-kilometer section of the expressway in the province. Świętokrzyskie is to be built within 39 months from signing the contract, excluding winter periods.

Currently, four sections of S74 are being constructed in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, with a total length exceeding 55 km. Below is the progress of activities on individual fragments:

Przełom/Mniów – Kielce Zachód junction (approx. 16.4 km) – application for a ZRID decision, planned completion of construction works in the second half of 2025.

Kielce Zachód – Kielce junction (5 km) – a contract for the design of the section was signed in January. The investment should be completed in the second half of 2026.

Opatów bypass along DK9 (approx. 5 km) and S74 (approx. 7 km) – construction works began in March. The investment is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.

S74 Łagów – Opatów (approx. 18 km) – selected contractor. Prior inspection of the proceedings by PUZP is ongoing.

S74 from Cedzyna to Łagów (approx. 30 km) – road engineers will soon select an offer in the tender for the construction of the section.
In the future, the S74 expressway will connect the A1 motorway near Piotrków Trybunalski with the S19 expressway near Nisko (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). The road will be built as part of the Government Program for the Construction of National Roads by 2030.
