The Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced on Monday that the average salary in the national economy in the first quarter of 2024 was PLN 8,147.38, which means an increase of 14.4%. Every year. On a quarter-to-quarter basis, there was an increase of 8.1%.

How has salary increased in recent years?

Let us recall that the average salary in the fourth quarter of 2023 was PLN 7,540.36, which meant an increase of 13.2%. on a year-to-year basis.

Throughout 2023, the average salary in the national economy was PLN 7,155.48, which in turn meant an increase of 12%. on an annual basis. In 2022, the average salary was PLN 6,346.15, and a year earlier it was PLN 5,662.53.

The Central Statistical Office also reported that in the first quarter of this year there were 92,031 registrations of enterprises, i.e. 4.4 percent. fewer year to year, as well as 100 bankruptcies, i.e. 18 percent. less on an annual basis.

There are fewer and fewer business registrations

– The number of enterprise registrations in the first quarter of 2024 amounted to 92,031 compared to 96,274 in the same period of the previous year. The largest decrease in the number of registrations occurred in the sections: information and communication (by 21.3%) and industry (by 8.4%) – we read in the announcement of the Central Statistical Office.

An increase in the number of registrations was observed only in services (by 2.1%) and in other sections (by 2.4%).

In most of the distinguished legal forms, in the first quarter of this year there was a decrease in registration, including for natural persons running a business by 6.5 percent, and in branches of foreign enterprises by 41.8 percent. An increase in the number of registrations was recorded for partnerships (by 23 .1%), limited liability companies (by 8.7%) and general partnerships (by 7.2%).
