The opponent, with whom the national team had not had any problems for years, already had the match ball. Ultimately, it ended with a 3-2 triumph for the European champions, but the Serbian coach will receive a lot of material to analyze after the match.

The series began with a 3-1 victory over Italy on June 25 in the Nations League and continued until the end of the VNL and throughout the European Championship.
The victory over Italy in the European Championship final equaled the record set by Raul Lozano’s team in 2006. However, Grbic’s players still needed an additional triumph. It came in the first match of the Olympic qualifications. Therefore, Poles needed just over three months to achieve the historic result.
Poland will play against Bulgaria in the Olympic qualifications
The Poland-Bulgaria match in the second round of the 2024 Olympic qualifying tournament will take place on Sunday, October 1 at 10:00 a.m. Polish time. In the last direct clash (in the Nations League), the Poles won 3:2. After the match against Plamen Konstantinov’s team, the European champions and winners of VNL 2023 will have a day off.
