Joanna Kubisia, Bohdan Smoleń’s long-time partner, died at the age of 60

Joanna Kubisia died on September 18 after a long illness. The woman had a brain glioma. A fundraiser for her treatment has been running for some time on the website siępomaga.pl. There, Kubisia also shared videos and photos, as well as new information about how she was feeling. The last update is from July 28, 2023. In it, relatives of a 60-year-old woman inform that the last few days have been very difficult for them, and hope appears and disappears.

“The MRI image is unclear and we do not know whether it is another recurrence or weakening of the body caused by the exhausting fight against glioma. We believe that this time Mrs. Asia will get back on her feet and come back to us. The boss is very strong and still smiles despite everything,” we read.

Death of Joanna Kubisi

Unfortunately, less than two months later, the Foundation for the Creation of Mr. Smolen, headed by Joanna Kubisia, announced that the woman had died.

“It is with great regret that we would like to inform you that the co-founder and long-time president of the foundation, Mrs. Joanna Kubisa, passed away today. An extraordinary woman. Always focused on others, full of energy, empathy, understanding, with a million ideas and enthusiasm for work,” wrote the foundation’s employees. “We can say about the Boss that she was like a firecracker driving us to action, with a heart on her sleeve towards the foundation’s beneficiaries and all the foundation’s creatures. He will remain in our hearts and our memories forever,” we read.

The foundation said that the family asks for privacy and not to express condolences.

Joanna Kubisi’s funeral

There is also information about Joanna Kubisi’s funeral. The farewell mass will take place on Wednesday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. in the parish of St. Saint James the Apostle in Żabno. The burial will take place on Friday, September 29, at 3:00 p.m. at the parish cemetery in Siewierz. The family asks not to lay funeral candles or wreaths.
