Michał Probierz called up several debutants for Euro 2024 qualifying matches. Former Polish representative Jacek Grembocki pointed out the coach’s mistake, claiming that they were not well-known players.
Almost everything has already been said about the course of the Euro 2024 qualifying round for the Polish national team. Michał Probierz could have achieved more, but his debut on the coaching bench looked much better than that of Fernando Santos. Ultimately, the White and Reds will play against Estonia in the play-offs, and if they win, they will fight away against the winner of the Wales-Finland pair to play in the tournament in Germany. Did the coach actually make a mistake?
Jacek Grembocki pointed out Michał Probierz’s mistake
When announcing the first call-ups to the Polish national team, Michał Probierz surprised with several names. The most talked about player was Patryk Ped, who currently plays in the third Italian league, but his performances showed that he can give a lot to the team. The coach also chose Patryk Dziczek and Jakub Piotrowski, and the latter scored his debut goal in the match against the Czechs.
According to Jacek Grembocki, Michał Probierz made several mistakes when making appointments. In an interview with the “WP SportoweFakty” website, he admitted that he did not understand why the coach decided to give a chance to players who, in his opinion, are anonymous in the world of big football.
– It is unbelievable that Jacek Grembocki, a coach with a UEFA Pro license, had to google who plays in the Polish national team. And unfortunately, some players are downright anonymous. I have never encountered someone completely anonymous playing in the national team, especially with such great opportunities to get to know the player – said the former Polish representative, adding that to play in the national team, you must be a figure who stands out in your club team. Moreover, he stated that he did not see any progress in the team’s play. – We are playing the weakest in 15 years – he said.
