It’s amazing that the Sejm RP YouTube channel already has over 700,000 views. subscribers, and recordings of parliamentary sessions have millions of views.

In mid-December 2023, we informed that the Sejm RP channel already has 500,000 subscribers. subscriptions on YouTube, and the memorable meeting on December 11, when the PiS government was leaving office, was watched over 4 million times.

At that time, it might have seemed like it was only a temporary trend, that the Sejm social media, and especially the YouTube channel, were enjoying such record popularity in Poland. It turns out that nothing could be further from the truth, because meanwhile “Sejmflix”, as some Internet users call broadcasts of Sejm sessions on YouTube, still has millions of views.

At the moment when we are writing these words, the Sejm RP YouTube channel is already subscribed to by 725,000. people. This means an increase of 225 thousand. in just over a month. This is a lot, but it does not end with the number of subscriptions. Some of the Sejm sessions broadcast live also record numbers that have never been seen before in the history of the Polish Sejm.

In total, two broadcasts lasting almost 20 hours from the first and second days of the 2nd session of the Sejm, which took place last week, and have currently had less than three million views. Of course, the atmosphere in Polish politics is heated and this to some extent explains the record-breaking interest in the recent sessions of the Sejm, but it does not change the fact that we are still dealing with an unprecedented situation.

The growth rate of subscriptions on the Sejm RP channel on YouTube is absolutely record-breaking. Suffice it to recall that already in mid-November, Marshal Szymon Hołownia boasted that the Sejm channel had already received the rights to the so-called silver button, i.e. a special distinction that YouTube awards for exceeding the ceiling of 100,000. subscription.
