ZUS warns against fraudsters who persuade seniors to join a “pension program” to increase their pension. They ask for PLN 800 for the service.

The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) issued a statement in which it warns against fraudsters who call seniors impersonating institution employees. They then send text messages asking you to deposit money into a designated bank account.

An elderly man reported to the Social Insurance Institution. The senior received a phone call from a person pretending to be a ZUS employee. The fraudster encouraged the man to join a “pension program” and thus increase his pension. The fee for this service was PLN 800. The customer then received two text messages confirming registration in the program and a payment reminder – we read in the statement.

The plant appeals to seniors to be especially careful when talking on the phone. Information provided in this way may be used to their disadvantage. The institution reminds that it contacts electronically or by text message only with those customers who have an eZUS account and have chosen this method of contact.

ZUS indicates that in recent years there has been an increase in the activities of criminal groups and fraudsters using various communication channels and AI tools.

Artificial intelligence allows you to create websites and messages that look confusingly like official content or impersonate a person known to someone who is being attacked by fraudsters. Callers often try to force potential victims to make decisions, say that time is short, threaten to lose money, etc. This should raise additional vigilance. – emphasizes the institution.
