Robert Lewandowski’s words at the last press conference surprised Zbigniew Boniek. The former president of the Polish Football Association decided to respond to them. He sees the situation differently.

Robert Lewandowski arrived at Euro 2024 with a muscle injury that ruled him out of the first match against the Netherlands. He was ready for the match against Austria and came on in the second half, but unfortunately he did not help the white and reds in the 1:3 defeat.

At the press conference before the match against France, the last match of the Polish team at Euro 2024, coach Michał Probierz and captain Robert Lewandowski appeared. The 35-year-old admitted that this injury was a difficult moment for him. “Not being, not being able to be part of the team because of the injury I suffered. Without training on the pitch, I had to work individually. Personally, it was a tragedy for me,” he said.

The journalists took up the subject of the future of our team and the point of view of the FC Barcelona striker. Robert Lewandowski admitted that he sees light at the end of the tunnel. – Despite these European Championships, something has been created here. It hasn’t worked yet, but let’s not fool ourselves – we were in the group of death – he said.

– The level of our rivals is at least quarter-final. It was hard for us to get over that today, but I believe we will come back stronger – he added.

Zbigniew Boniek disagreed with Robert Lewandowski

The former president of the Polish Football Association, Zbigniew Boniek, who was a guest in the studio on the website Meczyki.pl, did not agree with these words of our captain. The deputy head of UEFA sees our situation in the group differently.

– I don’t agree with Robert. I think that with Holland we could have easily tied and with Austria we could have fought for victory. With France, however, we will take whatever God gives us – he said.
