Your data in Darknet? BIK will warn you immediately

Since April 2025, the Credit Information Bureau has launched a new functionality that can help users protect themselves from theft of identity. It is a Darknet monitoring service, which is designed to warn customers when their personal data goes to the illegal part of the Internet. If the leak is detected, the data owner will immediately receive an SMS notification.

Darknet, which is an encrypted part of the network inaccessible to average users, is a place where many illegal transactions occur. In addition to weapons or drug trafficking, the sale of personal data is very popular among cyber criminals. It is with their help that the extortion of loans, concluding contracts for someone else’s name or shopping on the Internet at the expense of the victim takes place. Criminals use social techniques, impersonate well -known institutions and obtain further information that facilitates access to the financial resources of victims.

The new BIK service is to counteract this. Thanks to cooperation with Comcert SA, the system constantly monitors Darknet in search of data belonging to users. If they are detected, the BIK customer receives an alert informing about the need to take action to prevent further consequences.
