Young people are not interested in benefits. They prefer a different solution
Almost 20 percent young employees admit that they do not use benefits because… they forget about them – according to the Amilon study. Older colleagues are more interested.
As research by Amilon, a supplier of digital gift cards, shows, the youngest employees in Poland are the least interested in employee benefits. Only 8.8% declare regular use of non-wage benefits. respondents aged 18-24. For comparison, among people aged 25-34 it is as much as 24%.
The data shows that 15.7 percent respondents from the youngest age group use one or two benefits, and 14.7 percent reaches for them occasionally – just because they are available.
Young people forget about benefits
A quite significant group (18.6%) declared that they would prefer to receive a higher salary instead of benefits such as a sports card, private medical care or health insurance. Interestingly, respondents with earnings above PLN 9,000 are most interested in this type of “exchange”. PLN net (23.6%). Among those earning the lowest national wage, only 17.2% submitted such declarations. respondents.
The study shows that the main reason for not using benefits by people under 25 is… forgetting about them (18%). Other reasons include lack of time or energy to use them, as well as too complicated rules of use (14.7% and 12.7%, respectively).
– If the benefit program is not intuitive or requires additional actions from the employee, it will easily fall out of the employee’s daily routine. Companies should simplify the mechanisms for using benefits and introduce solutions that can be used immediately, without additional formalities – emphasizes Karol Ziółkowski, Country Manager Poland & CEE at Amilon.
As mentioned, there is much greater interest in benefits in the older age group. Almost every fourth respondent aged 25-34 declares that they regularly use all or most of the benefits offered by their employer because they meet their needs well. Slightly less, 23.6 percent. reaches for one or two elements, and less than 16 percent admits that he uses the benefits sporadically.
– After the age of 25, Poles begin to willingly use benefits, but they expect that they will be tailored to their lifestyle. And around the age of thirty, the needs of employees differ significantly: one expects a voucher for a children’s store, another – a sports card. For the industry, this means the growing importance of flexible systems that give full decision-making power to the employee – explains Karol Ziółkowski.
The study was conducted in February 2026 by UCE RESEARCH on behalf of Amilon on a sample of 1,008 Poles aged 18–80.
