Witnesses to a collision at a US airport. “Chaos reigned”
The disaster that occurred at the New York airport took a deadly toll. Many passengers on board at the time of the collision experienced moments of terror. Witnesses shared the unpleasant experience with local media.
Although tragic accidents in the aviation industry do not occur very often, and airplanes are considered one of the safest means of communication, sometimes a disaster cannot be avoided. This happened on March 23, when, after landing at LaGuardia, an Air Canada plane collided with a fire truck. As a result, two pilots died and one of the flight attendants miraculously escaped death. Some of the 76 passengers on board described the atmosphere there.

A man flying with Air Canda spoke to CNN about the chaos and felt the impact. “Everyone was hidden and screaming. We had no clues because the cockpit was destroyed. Someone told us to jump out the emergency door and that’s what we did,” he recalled.
His wife told CTV News that her husband was on board. “When the plane suddenly stopped, he hit his face on the seat and broke his glasses. One of the passengers opened the exit near the wing and slid down it to get to safety. He then encouraged others to do the same. One person was injured and taken to an ambulance. We managed to evacuate everyone before the plane tilted,” she commented. The woman’s husband completed the journey safe and sound.
Still other witnesses were reached by CBC News Network. “We hit something and no one had control,” said passenger Jack Cabot. He added that everyone felt that something was wrong. In his opinion, the collision was sudden and strong, and their lives may be due to the pilots who died.
The stewardess miraculously survived
There were also people who survived the collision and ended up with serious injuries. The situation of flight attendant Solange Tremblay is said to be a miracle. CNN reports that the woman was found outside the wreckage of the plane still strapped to the seat. As a result of the collision, her seat was torn from the wall and thrown from the plane over 100 meters.
The woman suffered many injuries, but her condition is stable. He is currently struggling to recover in hospital.
An investigation is currently underway, and the latest findings indicate that the accident may have been caused by an insufficient number of traffic controllers.
