Wiśniowski wants to simplify the smart home

One application, no additional devices and configuration via QR code – this is how a smart gate in the new standard is supposed to work. The manufacturer argues that this is a step towards mass adoption of smart home solutions.

Smart gate without additional installation costs – where did this idea come from and what is this solution?

Wiesław Noga, automation product manager at WIŚNIOWSKI: We have been observing the development of the smart market in Poland and Europe for a long time. We see a dynamic growth of such solutions, but at the same time we have noticed that the available systems are dispersed and often do not offer full functionality for our products. Additionally, many of them require the user to have technical knowledge during configuration. That’s why we created our own application that connects all our products into one coherent ecosystem.

What does it look like in practice from the user’s perspective?

We focused on maximum simplicity. After installation, simply scan the QR code on the product, download the application and go through the intuitive configuration process. If someone can install a banking or store application, they will also be able to use our solution without any problems.

How does this translate into costs and safety?

This solution is standard in our products – the user does not incur additional costs, does not need additional devices or pay a subscription. All you need is a home Wi-Fi network. When it comes to security, we use encryption at a level comparable to electronic banking – 128-bit security and compliance with high cybersecurity standards.

So breaking into such a system would be as difficult as breaking into a bank?

This is very difficult. Of course, there are no completely immune systems, but we currently use the highest security standards available.

Is this already a market standard or rather an attempt to change the rules of the game?

This is already a standard for us, but not for the entire market. Many systems are still complicated to use and configure. We want the user to have a positive experience from the beginning and not be discouraged at the installation stage.

Will the competition have to chase such solutions?

I think this process has already started. Last year, we showed a smart gateway as standard and the market noticed it. At the same time, we are constantly developing our application. Control via Android Auto and CarPlay, as well as voice commands, will soon be available, which will further simplify the use of the system.
