Winter paradise not only in Zakopane. This place will delight Polish skiers
You don’t have to go to the Tatra Mountains to go skiing. Poles can also find slopes and ski lifts in the mountains in the center of the country.
Winter sports enthusiasts are getting ready for madness on the slopes during the upcoming holidays. However, not everyone intends to go to Zakopane. Some tourists check weather forecasts hoping that snow will also fall in other parts of Poland. One of the most interesting regions for this type of tourism is the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Few people know that you can ski on the slope right in the capital of the region – in the place of the former ski jump on Góra Pierścienica in Kielce, there is now a popular ski lift. Another place that is a must-visit in this area in winter is “Polish Switzerland”. However, this is not the end of the skiing experience.
Skiing in the city center
Centers in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship have started. Although temperatures continue to fluctuate and the slopes still need to be artificially snowed, the first skiers have already taken advantage of the best skiing spots in the region. If the weather is good, the inhabitants of Kielce will not have to go to Zakopane this year. On January 6, the slope on Góra Ringścienica, called the Stadium slope, was opened. “In this difficult winter, when there is less snowfall and variable temperatures, we are working intensively to maintain the best possible conditions on the slope,” says the owner of the station, Paweł Kozłowski, in an interview with Naszamiasto.pl. The local slope is 500 meters long and 50 meters wide, the level difference is also 50 meters. Access is really easy – just use the city bus leaving from the center.
Tourists can choose from the resorts
Another iconic Kielce ski center is also preparing to open. Intensive snow-making works are underway on the Telegraf slope, often compared to the one on Nosal in Zakopane due to the beautiful view of the city and its steepness (the highest in the entire Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship). As we read in the local media, the slopes in Niestachów, Tumlin and Krajna-Zagórze are also preparing to open. For now, skiing fun is guaranteed only in one place. “You can search only in Bałtów,” writes Echo Dnia.
