Windows that are conquering the world – Polish joinery in a new version

Janusz Komurkiewicz, Fakro

Polish construction and architecture are increasingly in line with global trends, in which energy efficiency, comfort of use and modern technologies are of key importance. Janusz Komurkiewicz, member of the FAKRO management board, talks about changes in the industry, differences between markets and the growing importance of innovation.

How is Polish construction and architecture changing today?

Polish construction and architecture are constantly developing, responding to both environmental protection challenges and the growing expectations of residents regarding the comfort of life. One of the most important trends is the design of energy-efficient buildings that use modern technologies and solutions that reduce energy consumption.

The quality of the space we live in also plays an increasingly important role. Since we spend a significant amount of time indoors – at work and at home – architects pay special attention to access to natural light and contact with the surroundings. Hence the popularity of large glazing and panoramic windows, which blur the boundary between interior and exterior space. Such solutions improve the illumination of rooms, have a positive impact on the well-being of residents and strengthen the sense of closeness to nature.

Modern buildings are also becoming more intelligent. Smart home systems allow you to manage windows, ventilation, heating, lighting and security using integrated digital solutions. Thanks to this, the house becomes not only more energy-efficient, but above all more comfortable and better adapted to the needs of users.

Today’s architecture combines aesthetics, functionality, technology and concern for the well-being of residents, creating spaces that are more livable than ever before.

Can Polish joinery be our showcase in the world?

Polish joinery is already one of the showcases of our economy in the world. It is a recognizable brand and associated with high quality, modernity and reliability “made in Poland”. Poland has been one of the leading European producers of construction joinery for years, and in terms of exports it is one of the leaders in the world.

This success is primarily due to the great innovation of the industry, high technical parameters of the offered products and consistent technological development. Thanks to this, Polish windows and doors are competitive on many markets and reach customers on all continents.

As a result, the “Polish window” has become not only a product, but also a brand associated with quality and prestige, which actually strengthens the image of the Polish industry abroad.

And which country is the largest importer?

The largest market for Polish joinery remains the European Union as a whole – it is a natural export environment with known and predictable regulations and standards. Thanks to this, European partners are the most stable and at the same time the most important sales direction for Polish producers.

When it comes to specific countries, the key role is played primarily by large European economies, such as Germany and France, which have been among the main recipients of Polish construction joinery for years.

At the same time, the industry is increasingly expanding beyond Europe. The importance of markets such as the United States, Middle Eastern countries and selected Asian countries is growing dynamically. This is where Polish products increasingly compete in terms of quality and technical parameters, building their position outside the traditional European market.

As a result, Polish joinery becomes a global product – present wherever there is a demand for modern, energy-saving and high-quality solutions.

Do customers in Asia, the United States and the United Arab Emirates have different expectations of joinery? Are there any market-specific requirements – for example, that windows exported to the US must meet certain standards or features?

Yes, customer requirements vary depending on the region, because each market has its own climatic, architectural and regulatory conditions.

In countries with a cold climate, energy-saving parameters are of key importance – primarily thermal insulation and limiting energy losses. In turn, in regions with a hot climate, such as the Middle East, greater emphasis is placed on protection against overheating of interiors and control of sunlight. In such cases, the following applies, among others: solutions such as external covers or shading systems that limit the flow of solar energy into the building.

As a result, the window is not a universal product, but a solution adapted to local conditions and technical regulations. The Polish joinery industry thrives in this diversity because it operates in one of the most demanding climatic and regulatory environments in Europe. This experience translates into great flexibility of manufacturers and the ability to adapt products to various markets around the world.
