Will we live higher and higher. Experts calculated

Czy deweloperzy budują coraz wyższe bloki?

Do developers put higher and higher blocks? Experts analyzed GUS data.

Thanks to a given Central Statistical Office (GUS), we can check the height of the apartment blocks put into use in 2024. It is worth combining the latest information with older data to observe changes in the number of floors.

In addition to basic statistics regarding apartments and houses put into use, the Central Statistical Office also publishes more detailed data – among others on construction technology and the number of floors of buildings. Experts of the RynekPierwotny.pl portal decided to analyze how the height of development buildings changed over the years.

– These CSO statistics allow not only residential buildings completed by developers, but also only blocks (excluding new houses) – explains Andrzej Prajsnar, expert of the RynekPierwotny.pl portal.

How high blocks do developers build?

Experts of the RynekPierwotny.pl portal calculated that in all of 2024 new development buildings had the following number of floors:

  • 1 floor – 0.2 percent completed by developers of multi -family buildings

  • 2 floors – 6.8 percent buildings

  • 3 floors – 23.2 percent buildings

  • 4 floors – 29.4 percent buildings

  • 5 floors – 17.4 percent buildings

  • 6 floors – 10.9 percent buildings

  • 7 floors – 4.5 percent buildings

  • 8 and more floors – 7.5 percent completed by developers of multi -family buildings

How does the height of the blocks change in Poland?

According to the expert, 2024 did not bring changes in terms of the most common number of floors in blocks completed by developers.

– Compared to 2023, the participation (approx. 29 percent) of the most popular blocks with four above -ground floors has not changed. Analyzing the data from 2018-2024, we do not see large changes in the country-for example, the increase in the percentage of the highest blocks. The average values from 2018-2024 are similar to last year’s distribution of the number of floors. However, it can be regretted that GUS currently includes all buildings with at least 8 floors in one category. For this reason, unfortunately, we can miss the changes regarding the participation of the highest apartment blocks – says Andrzej Prajsnar.
