Will these cities miss the picnic? Ticket prices could scare away

Turyści w Camden Town w Londynie

The FRU booking platform checked where Poles will go for a picnic. Two European cities will attract less tourists this year than a year ago.

Although the prices of air tickets for the picnic a year ago were 61 percent higher a year ago, it did not scare off tourists. Not everyone can afford to travel in the middle of the week, and free days create an opportunity for City Break.

Picnic in Europe. Poles will choose these cities

The Fru platform checked where the Poles made reservations for the long May weekend. Rome reigned. The eternal city does not leave anyone indifferent, and the power of ancient architecture and a rich number of monuments makes you want to come back to it.

However, there have been several changes compared to last year. Barcelona, although she is still popular, gave way to other Spanish cities – Malaga and Alicante have gained importance and attract more and more tourists looking for the sun and relaxation. And although Spanish cities are struggling with excessive tourism to varying degrees, the capital of Catalonia has recently become a symbol of protests against phenomena that tease residents. It is also associated with a large number of pickpockets, although in crowded places of Rome you should also be vigilant.

The top five also includes Milan in the reservations (we can only assume that for many tourists he will be the base at Lake Como) and Paris.

ETA and high prices. London loses charm?

London recorded a significant decrease in interest in the ranking. While flight prices to many European cities fell on 2024, a trip to the capital of Great Britain in a picnic costs in 2025. PLN 815, not PLN 621 as in 2024, which means an increase of 31 percent. An additional obstacle could be the introduction of an ETA electronic certificate, which is associated with an additional fee (just over PLN 50). Flights to Paris also got up (they currently reach PLN 1097).

Flight prices to cities from TOP5 have fallen mostly, although slightly to Rome, by 4 percent. (PLN 815 in 2025 vs. PLN 855 in 2024). We will pay 21 percent for a journey to Milan. Less (PLN 572 this year compared to PLN 727 last year), flights to Alicante were 11 percent. cheaper (PLN 958 in 2025 vs PLN 1073 in 2024), and to Malaga by 18 percent (PLN 990 currently compared to PLN 1207 last year).

All examples given by FRO relate to departures from Warsaw, and the data come from reservations made by Polish tourists, between January 1, 2024 and April 14, 2025.
