Will the tourist voucher return?
According to RMF FM, if the trip was canceled, the customer would be able to use a voucher valid for two years. The voucher would give you the opportunity to choose a different direction – for the same amount, a lower one with a refund or a higher one with an additional payment. – Such a voucher would only be introduced in crisis situations – emphasizes Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism Ireneusz Raś.
The deputy head of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism specifies that the industry would adopt such a universal mechanism for crisis situations, so that it would be “at the disposal of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism”.
As the radio station notes, the idea of a voucher is a proposal for the future. It is not known whether the solution would apply to people whose trips were canceled due to the war in the Middle East. It is known that a bill on this matter will be submitted by MPs to implement the planned solutions as soon as possible.
Poles want the benefit to be reactivated
Let us recall that the tourist voucher was introduced in August 2020 by the PiS government. It was valid until the end of March 2023. The benefit of PLN 500 (in the form of a voucher) was intended to be support for families (its beneficiaries were people receiving PLN 500 plus), as well as for those affected by pandemic restrictions in the tourism industry (the voucher could be used for trips or accommodation only in Poland).
Recently, the voucher has been restored in a local version (valid in the Podlaskie and Warmian-Masurian Voivodeships). A SW Research survey for “Wprost” conducted last summer shows that nearly half of Poles (48.2%). wants the benefit to return on a nationwide scale. 29.5% are of the opposite opinion. respondents, and 22.5 percent has no opinion on this matter.
