Will the government extend CPN? The Minister of Finance spoke

Donald Tusk, Andrzej Domański

The Minister of Finance did not rule out extending the CPN package in RMF FM. Andrzej Domański also talked about whether Poles should be afraid of the crisis.

From the end of March this year The government package “Fuel Prices Lower” (CPN) is in force in Poland. It assumes, among others: reduction of the VAT rate on fuels from 23%. up to 8%, a reduction in excise duty to the minimum EU levels (by PLN 29/l for petrol and PLN 28/l for diesel), as well as the introduction of a maximum retail price for fuels.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the government did not intend to abandon the package, despite the announcement of a ceasefire in the Middle East. The head of government emphasized that the situation on the fuel market still remains uncertain, which is why the government wants to remain cautious and maintain the mechanism introduced earlier.

Domański on the extension of the CPN package

Is it possible to extend the package? This question was heard today on RMF FM by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański.

In the case of excise duty, certainly yes – declared the head of the Ministry of Finance and Economy. – VAT is reduced until the end of April, we will analyze the situation at gas stations – he added.

When asked whether, due to the situation in the Middle East, Poles should be afraid of the crisis and consider planning a vacation or renovation, Domański replied that he recommended “staying calm and responsible.”

We see that the impact on the Polish economy is very, very limited for now. Thanks to the government program, we have ensured that prices at gas stations have not increased as much as would result from the increase in oil prices. So I encourage you to stay calm, plan your vacation, plan your home renovation expenses, if anyone needs it – said the RMF FM guest.

I believe that the risk of crisis in Poland is very, very low. We have the fastest growing economy in the European Union. The latest World Bank forecasts also confirm that we will grow very quickly, at a rate of over 3%. and these are forecasts prepared after the outbreak of the conflict – he added.
