The sensational information came on Sunday (i.e. August 23), and the author of the very interesting news in the context of the future of athletics in Poland was Michał Chmielewski from TVP Sport.
Sam Blaskowski is a 24-year-old sprinter who achieved an amazing time of 9.89 seconds over a distance of 100 meters. It was the fastest run by a white sprinter in the history of the world.
And this is exactly what the man wants to apply for Polish citizenship!

Where did the idea to represent Poland come from? Even the Polish-sounding name explains a lot. Blaskowski is the great-grandson of Polish emigrants from the United States. Great-grandparents Franciszek and Juliana left Poland in 1905.
Interestingly, if everything went according to Blaskowski’s plan, the athlete could count on competing for Poland as early as 2027. One would like to say – ideally in the context of the next Olympic Games. Needless to say, the sprinter himself is well aware of what is on the horizon.
– I only know that no Pole has ever broken the 10-second limit. But I will do it in my first start as a Pole (…) And it’s wonderful that in 2028 there are the European Championships in Chorzów, and a moment later the Olympic Games in the United States. After all, if I could run in both events, it would be a symbolic bridge – admitted the interested person himself on TVP Sport.
Blaskowski ran in the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial over a distance of 100 meters. He was very enthusiastic about his arrival in Poland. Moreover, in addition to his athletic performance, the US-born athlete wants to visit the place where his roots should be sought. That is, Sompolno near Konin, in the Greater Poland Voivodeship.
When asked if he would like to say something to the President of Poland to additionally convince him to grant citizenship and the opportunity to compete for the country of his ancestors, the athlete openly admitted:
– Dear Mr. President. I want to make Poland the most beautiful sprinting country in the world. I want to win medals for Poland, he appealed to President Nawrocki.
Let us add that the Polish president can significantly speed up the entire process. However, it is important that the athlete himself sends an official letter to Karol Nawrocki, in which the entire story related to the desire to obtain Polish citizenship will be properly articulated.
