Will Jakub Kochanowski leave PlusLiga? An eloquent declaration by the Polish representative

Jakub Kochanowski, Bartosz Gomulka

Jakub Kochanowski left no illusions about his sports future. The midfielder of PGE Projekt Warszawa assessed the game in PlusLiga.

Jakub Kochanowski is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in the world. The PGE Projekt Warszawa player can boast of the title of the best center at the Olympic Games in Paris and the 2025 World Championships. He also won the MVP statuette of the 2025 Nations League.

Jakub Kochanowski about playing in PlusLiga

The 28-year-old has always been associated with PlusLiga. In the past he played, among others: in ZAKS, PGE Skra Bełchatów and Asseco Resovia. –I have always wanted to play for Skra Bełchatów, basically since I started being interested in volleyball. The time spent with Grzegorz Łomacz in Skra taught me the most. It was then that I saw what real volleyball was all about, how to play under great pressure, with different solutions – recalled the volleyball player in an interview with Maciej Nowocień for RedBull.

– In Kędzierzyn I achieved my greatest club success. Then, when I went to Resovia, I learned how to deal with difficult moments, because we had a lot of them – he added.

Jakub Kochanowski leaves no doubts. Eloquent words about Poland

Since 2024, Jakub Kochanowski has represented the capital’s PGE Projekt Warszawa, but according to transfer rumors, he may go to Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie from next season. Just like Tomasz Fornal, who after a season spent in the Turkish league is to return to competing on domestic courts.

In the context of the player’s future, some fans wondered whether the center was planning to leave PlusLiga and play in the Italian or Japanese league. The player firmly put an end to these speculations and listed the advantages of the Polish league.

I am very happy in PlusLiga and I see no reason to go abroad. Our league offers everything a professional athlete needs to functionbut also financial security, competitive with clubs in Europe and around the world – he said.

– Apart from that, I have a wife, family and friends here. It’s hard for me to imagine what a foreign league could do to tempt me to give up all these things and go. It would have to be some sporting challenge that I haven’t managed to accomplish yet and that I would really dream about. But on the other hand, I don’t dream of the Italian championship, for example. I’m really happy here – assured the midfielder of PGE Projekt Warszawa.

Norbert Huber critically about the Polish league

Jakub Kochanowski’s words contrast strongly with the statements of another midfielder. Norbert Huber, who is defending the colors of Wolfdogs Nagoya this season, assured in an interview with TVP Sport that he does not miss the Polish league.

– I am happy to be here. I don’t miss Poland in any way. Moreover, when I read what is happening in the Polish league, I am glad that the only thing that connects me with it is browsing comments on X – he commented.

In “Przegląd Sportowy” Norbert Huber said that he “wanted to see if in another country people who sacrifice their health every day at work are more appreciated.”

– I am satisfied with this choice (…) I also do not have as many responsibilities as in Poland, and any other activity is treated as additional. If I don’t want to do something, it is not required, and in Poland, for example, it was imposed from above. People who work at Wolf Dogs take into account the opinion of volleyball players, which did not happen in PlusLiga clubs – he explained.
