Will a Pole be the hero of the Champions League? The draw results say it all
On Friday (February 27), we found out the pairs of the 1/8 finals of the Champions League. There are plenty of hits, but also interesting two-legged matches from the perspective of a Polish fan.
There is no doubt that the Champions League competitions evoke the greatest emotions in club football on the Old Continent. Who will be the winner in the 2025/26 edition? We will know the final answer on May 30, and this time the arena for the title fight will be relatively close, from Poland’s perspective, in Budapest.
UEFA Champions League: Here are the draw results! There is no shortage of hit fights
The most interesting two-legged matches are: Real Madrid – Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain – Chelsea. These competitions will certainly be extremely loud. Polish fans will also have some interesting accents, taking into account the performances of their compatriots in the Champions League.
FC Barcelona with Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny will play against Newcastle United again. The Spanish champions have already faced this team in the league stage. Barca won in the British Isles 2-1.
An interesting challenge for Nicola Zalewski. The Pole defends the colors of Atalanta, which will again face the representative of the German Bundesliga. The Italians eliminated BVB in the 1/16 finals (play-off phase), and now the Dortmund team will be replaced by the great Bayern Munich.
What’s more, if Atalanta defeated the Bavarian giant, they would then play the winner of the two-legged match… Real Madrid – Manchester City. Will this be Zalewski’s edition? The Pole certainly has the credentials to shine on the biggest football arenas in Europe. Which would probably be a good signal for the Polish national team, in which Zalewski is one of the leaders.
