Wilfredo Leon achieved the impossible! What a great performance by the Polish representative
Bogdanka LUK Lublin defeated the French Tourcoing Lille Metropole twice, 3-1. Wilfredo Leon made an impressive performance in the return leg.
The Lublin club is participating in the Challenge Cup, thanks to the fifth position in the PlusLiga in the 2023/24 season. It is worth adding that this competition in 2024 was won by Projekt Warszawa (still without PGE). However, volleyball players from the capital are now competing in the most prestigious version of European cups, the Champions League.

It cannot be ruled out that the Lublin team will be eager to repeat the success of the Warsaw team. So far, Bogdanka LUK has advanced to the quarterfinals. Coach Massimo Botti’s players, just like in the first match at home, defeated Tourcoing Lille Metropole in four sets again.
However, the French tried to put up a strong stand against their Polish opponent on their own territory. The problem for the hosts, however, was that even if they managed to make a large advance in the third set, Wilfredo Leon entered his “killer mode”. The host of Bogdanka LUK and the Polish national team performed a brilliant series of plays. In total, Leon served as many as 12 times in a row, including five direct points from the service court.
As a result? From 15:10 in favor of the French to… 21:15 in favor of Bogdanka LUK. Leon won the MVP award of the match. In total, he scored 21 points, which included: the above-mentioned five service aces, 57 percent. effectiveness in attack (28 attacks) or 15 checks on the serve, in receiving a solid 60 percent. positive and 33 “perfect”. Let us add that Leon played only three sets out of four possible. After winning 3-1 in the first match, Bogdanka LUK needed only two wins in the rematch. So at 2:1 everything became clear.
Bogdanka LUK debuts in European cups. So far, the greatest success in the history of the club, which was created in the 2013/14 season, was the mentioned fifth place at the end of the PlusLiga competition (2023/24) and participation in the final tournament of the Polish Cup (2024) in Krakow’s Tauron Arena.
