Where is the warmest water on the Baltic Sea? Here is the list of resorts

Zatoka Pucka

The Baltic Sea does not have to be cold. There are places at the Polish seaside where the water temperature reaches record values every year.

The season for trips to the Polish seaside has begun. Although the weather is not cooperating at the moment, on Saturday, June 13, the first swimming area, the Sopot beach – Łazienki Południowe, was opened. In July and August, Poles will have many more locations at their disposal, and they will certainly look for the warmest ones among them. The water in the Baltic Sea is uneven – some resorts can offer vacationers even a few degrees warmer bathing.

According to long-term data from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, in summer tourists should visit primarily Hel, Międzyzdroje, Łeba, Świnoujście and Władysławowo. In these cities, among others, there is a chance for a slightly warmer bath than, for example, in Kołobrzeg or Ustka, where the water temperature in the past sometimes did not exceed 18 degrees Celsius.

It is also worth remembering the phenomenon of upwelling, which can bring cold water even on a very hot day. Rising cold masses of water from the bottom to the surface is a common problem in Jastrzębia Góra, Łeba and Czołpino.

This is the Baltic heat record holder

The perfect place for a pleasant holiday swim in the Baltic Sea is undoubtedly the Bay of Puck. The reason is the shallow bottom and the sheltered coastline, thanks to which the impact of cooling upwelling (caused by the wind) is significantly limited. In 2021, a record measurement was made in the Bay of Puck – the water temperature reached up to 26 degrees Celsius. To swim (almost) like in the Adriatic Sea, it is best to choose towns between Puck and Gdynia. Usually the maximum temperature you can count on there is about 22 degrees.

The statistics regarding air temperature are different – in this case, Świnoujście is definitely in the lead.
