When will the radiators get warm? Heating season 2026/2027

When does heat appear in buildings? The date of calendar autumn is not an indicator of the heating season, so what is it?

With autumn, cold came to Poland. Throughout the country, temperatures dropped below 20 degrees, and most often range from 10 to 13 degrees. Additionally, there were stronger winds, storms and intense rainfall, and snow fell in the higher parts of the Tatra Mountains.

The heat that the inhabitants of Spain and Portugal still feel will not return to Poland. Anyone who likes warmth can only take care of it themselves. For example, by switching windows to winter mode or bleeding radiators in the hope that heating plants will start the heating season. The radiators heat up day by day, but when exactly?

The building manager will decide. Warmth in the room and bathroom

The date of calendar autumn is not a determinant of the heating season. Contrary to appearances, neither is temperature. Pursuant to the Regulation of the Minister of Economy of January 2007, the heating season is a period in which atmospheric conditions force continuous supply of heat to buildings.

Radiators will become hot when several factors occur at the same time. In accordance with building regulations, The heating system in residential buildings must be able to provide a temperature of at least +20 degrees in rooms and +24 degrees in bathrooms.

When it becomes impossible to maintain such parameters without heating, the building manager must submit an application to the heat supplier asking to start supplies.

Three days below 10 degrees? Internal regulations of communities and cooperatives

Polish regulations do not specify the outside temperature after which the cooperative or manager is obliged to automatically start heating. There is also no statutory “three days below 10 degrees” rule.

Sometimes this is done automatically by an automatic system that reacts to a drop in outside temperature after exceeding a threshold set for a given system. Usually, internal regulations assume an unwritten threshold below 12 or 10 degrees, but these are local arrangements. However, at the end of September, thermometers will show from 15 to even 24 degrees, depending on the day and region.

There is also no single end date for the heating season. Heating may be needed even in April, and even in May during a cool spring.
